IELTS score is calculated based on the 4 modules namely Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.  The calculation is done between 0-9. The aspirants can get .5 scores as well. An IELTS score for each module is given and finally, an overall band score is given to the aspirant. The score is the average of the skills.

  • If the overall score is 6.25, then it is increased to 6.5
  • The score is 6.75, then it increases to 7
  • Score is 7.1, then it will go down to 7
  • The score is rounded up to the nearest 0.5 or whole.

Raw score= how many questions answered correctly

It is calculated as per the number of correct answers given out of 40 questions. There is no loss of points for the wrong answer.

For the undergraduate program, the minimum score required is 5.5 and for the postgraduate level, 6.5 scores are required.

How to send IELTS score to Universities:

The score can be sent either by electronic score report delivery or through paper TRF delivery. But before this, it is important to check the university in which the aspirant wants to apply and their method of score acceptance. A minimum of 6.5 band score is required to get through the universities in the USA.

IELTS score for Ireland:

The aspirant has to score 7.0 in Academic test with a minimum of 6.5 each in all 4 modules.
